The Ellis School, the only PK-12 independent day school for girls in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking a Latin instructor beginning in August 2020. Responsibilities include teaching Middle School and Upper School Latin, including AP. Additionally, this position includes advising eight to ten students. Other duties, including—but not limited to—proctoring study halls, chaperoning, and committee work are integral to the role of Middle and Upper School faculty members.
A bachelor’s degree in Classical Languages, or the equivalent, is required and a master’s degree is strongly preferred. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 3-5 years teaching experience, and the ability to teach humanities courses or other languages as well. They will possess a commitment to using innovative pedagogical practices and technology to enhance instruction, as well as enthusiasm about all-girls education. In addition, preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated enthusiasm for working with and teaching adolescents, a strong sense of school community and teamwork, and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
