Germantown Friends School is seeking an experienced professional to help manage the financial reporting and accounting for the school. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting in formulating the annual budget, assisting in the production of internal financial statements and forecasts for Finance, Facilities, and School Committee meetings, reconciling all bank accounts on a monthly basis, and maintenance of general ledger and accounting records.
Prepare monthly general ledger account analysis for all Balance Sheet accounts for all funds.
Assist the CFO and Controller in formulating the annual budget and maintaining details in the accounting system.
Reconcile donations between the Business Office and Advancement Office and maintain schedules for all restricted donations.
Analyze major repairs and fixed asset additions for items to be capitalized and get copies of all documentation to update Fixed Assets schedules.
Process all monthly standard journal entries.
Update the Endowment Unitization schedule on a monthly basis.
Prepare monthly reconciliation of tuition billing and collections in coordination with Accounts Receivable and Tuition Manager.
Record monthly activity of GFS rental properties managed by an outside firm
Provide oversight to staff accounting in bi-weekly and monthly payroll processing and Accounts Payable invoice processing.
Provide financial analyses as needed.
Assist the Controller in the annual financial statement audit with the preparation of the financial statements and workpapers.
Must present a strong sense of customer service and be able to communicate effectively over the telephone and through e-mail.
Demonstrate good organization and prioritization skills: meet deadlines, detail-oriented, multi-task
Must have a good understanding of accounting and be familiar with the use of subledgers
Maintain strict confidentiality
Have strong interpersonal skills: communication, presentation, negotiation
Demonstrate strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or commensurate experience
Competency and comfort with the use of technology, including accounting systems and spreadsheet work
Not-for-profit experience preferred
12 months, 40 hours/week
Additional hours for attendance at required functions
