Abington Friends School, a Quaker co-educational day school located in Jenkintown, PA, is seeking candidates for the position of Student Billing Associate. The Student Billing Associate supports the general operations of the Business Office and reports to the Controller. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented and technologically savvy individual with excellent communication skills and a collaborative work style. This position is an hourly, part-time position (approximately 25 hours per week).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain and administer all aspects of student billing accounts.
Work with the school’s third-party tuition payment company to ensure all accounts are reflected accurately.
Work with parents on approved payment arrangements for tuition accounts.
Support and ensure the billing of student related charges submitted by other departments.
Maintain open communication with delinquent accounts to assure prompt collection.
Cash Receipts & Other
Process all incoming cash receipts and deposits, including Advancement Office receipts.
Prepare bank deposits and follow up on returned checks.
Prepare basic journal entries.
Provide supporting documentation for annual financial audits.
Skills and Specifications
Must have knowledge of general accounting procedures, specifically those related to accounts receivable.
High level of proficiency using Microsoft Excel and other Office products.
Must be organized and pay attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to communicate effectively with all School constituencies, including parents, students, and employees both verbally and in writing.
Ability to set priorities, organize, and work independently.
Education and/or Experience:
Minimum of an Associate degree in Accounting or related field, or 3+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with accounting and billing database software required. Blackbaud Financial Edge and SMART Tuition experience preferred.
