St. Edmund’s Academy seeks a dedicated and dynamic teacher with a minimum of 3 years of current experience for a self-contained, 4th Grade homeroom teacher long-term substitute position. The 4th Grade homeroom teacher works with students in his/her individual, self-contained classroom and collaboratively with the other 4th Grade homeroom teacher. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching all language arts, math and social studies classes, in addition to ‘homeroom’ teacher responsibilities. The 4th Grade teacher will be responsible for designing curriculum, planning lessons, and working closely with the Director of Early Childhood & Lower School to ensure alignment of the school’s philosophy in curriculum and practices. Candidates must possess enthusiasm for 21st century pedagogy, be open to change and new ideas, have an outstanding record teaching early childhood or elementary school-aged groups. Excellent writing skills and strong verbal communication are expected. The candidate must demonstrate familiarity with racial literacy, equity, and anti-racist pedagogy. The ability to be collaborative, detail-oriented and innovative and have cross-cultural competency is essential. Teachers dedicated to meeting the academic and personal needs of the students and collaborating with colleagues and parents should apply. A Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
