Germantown Academy, located in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, is seeking qualified, experienced candidates for a full-time position of Upper School Psychologist to start in August 2021. The Upper School Psychologist will report to the Upper School Head and the Director of Counseling Services and will collaborate with the GA clinical team. The role requires particular expertise in the areas of adolescent social and emotional development, resiliency skill building, and counseling strategies for prevention, treatment, consultation, and crisis management. Qualified applicants will meet the following criteria: Key Responsibilities: - Provide short-term counseling and consultation to Upper School students, parents, faculty, and administration
- Consult with faculty and parents on emotional wellbeing of Upper School students
- Coordinate 9th grade SEL seminar curriculum
- Teach sections of 9th grade SEL seminar
- Coordinate learning support and implementation of psycho-educational evaluation recommendations, including applications for standardized testing accommodations
- Initiate outreach and prevention programs focused on social and emotional skill building and health and wellness
- Collaborate with the team of Upper, Middle, and Lower School psychologists and counselors to ensure smooth transitions for our students from PreK-12
- Assist Director of Counseling Services in hiring, supervising, and mentoring Upper School counselors
- Provide crisis intervention and situation specific interventions
- Develop prevention and intervention focused services
- Assist Middle School psychologist with counseling needs as needed
- Coordinate, lead and serve on Upper School Germantown Academy Intervention Network team
- Supervise Upper/Middle School learning/reading specialist
- Participate fully in the life of the Upper School by serving as an Advisor and House team member
- Help lead or support extracurricular activities in areas of expertise and interest
Qualifications: - A Doctoral degree in Counseling, Clinical, School Psychology, Social Work
- Professional license, School Psychology Certification Required
- 5+ years of proven successful work with children and families in a clinical setting, school, or private practice
- Demonstrable group facilitation and/or teaching experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability and desire to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Deep knowledge of social and cognitive developmental stages of childhood
- Strong cultural competency skills: ability to understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across cultures and diverse backgrounds
- Outstanding organizational, problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to organize tasks and priorities and strong follow through with communications and interventions
- Exceptional ability to collaborate with all school constituencies

We are also accepting applications for an all-school Director of Counseling Services. The Director of Counseling Services needs to serve as a Psychologist in one of the three divisions at GA. Key Responsibilities include: - Serve as a School Psychologist in one division
- Oversee and supervise all divisional counselors/psychologists
- Consult with divisional administrative teams to facilitate the development and delivery of age-appropriate programming related to socioemotional development, health, and wellness
- In collaboration with Health & Wellness Department Heads, initiate outreach and prevention programs focused on social and emotional skill building and overall health and wellness
- Collaborate with the team of Upper, Middle, and Lower School psychologists and counselors to ensure smooth transitions for our students from PreK-12
- In collaboration with the Division Heads and Health & Wellness Department Heads of each division, plan and participate in school-wide health and wellness initiatives
- Collaborate with Parents’ Committee and Parenting Education Team to create sustainable parenting education programs
- Provide crisis intervention and situation specific interventions
- Develop prevention and intervention focused services
- Collaborate with Upper School Psychologist to coordinate learning support and implementation of psycho-educational evaluation recommendations, including applications for standardized testing accommodations
- Serve as a member of the school’s management team in addition to other committees as needed
- Teach and co-teach field-related classes as needed
Qualifications: - PhD, PsyD, or EdD in School, Clinical, or Counseling Psychology
- Licensed Psychologist; School Psychology Certification Required
- 5+ years of proven successful work with children and families in a clinical setting, school, or private practice
- Significant experience in supervising, hiring, and mentoring other counselors/psychologists
- Deep knowledge of social and cognitive developmental stages of childhood
