The School has a current enrollment of 314 students, Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade and employs 65 dedicated faculty and staff.

 

Since the Civil Rights movement of the 50’s, Greene Street Friends has been one of the most diverse independent schools in the City of Philadelphia, its graduates attending the top public magnet and independent high schools.  Over the past five years, through leadership of faculty, staff, parents and caregivers, the school has experienced tremendous growth in its programming around diversity, equity, and inclusion, notably in the area of racial literacy. These commitments and progress dictate a new strategy and build-out be implemented to sustainably advance diversity, equity and inclusion at Greene Street Friends. The Exceptional Opportunity

 

An ideal position for candidates with strong administrative experience who resonate strongly with the school’s mission and who are looking for their next leadership development opportunity, the Associate Head of School reports to the GSFS Head of School and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee All Educational Programming
    • Working closely with the Deans, the Student Support Team, the Cluster Coordinators, and the faculty as a whole, the Associate Head coordinates all aspects of the School’s educational program.
    • The Associate Head serves as the instructional leader of the School, responsible for the articulation, development, and implementation of the School’s curriculum, as well as the hiring, supervision, and professional development of faculty and program-related staff.

 

  • Close collaboration with the Head of School, Senior Leadership Team, Board of Trustees, and Monthly Meeting:
    • With the Head of School and Senior Leadership Team, the Associate Head upholds the School’s Mission Statement, and develops and implements goals for all activities in the School’s work with all constituencies.
    • Together with the Head of School, the Associate Head attends Board meetings, meets with the leadership of its affiliated Quaker congregation, and represents the School to the wider community. When the Head of School is traveling and/or unavailable, the Associate Head is prepared to take on the administrative responsibilities of the Head of School.

About Greene Street Friends School
Founded in 1855, Greene Street Friends School has operated continuously in central Germantown section of Philadelphia. The school’s curriculum emphasizes Quaker values, academic strength, and cultural competence. Greene Street graduates attend the top private and public magnet high schools, the largest percentage attending Central High School. Since the mid-1960’s the school has implemented a mission-based business model that prioritizes financial accessibility, with an enrollment of 45% - 55% students of color. Over the past twenty years, the school has doubled both in enrollment and campus size. Current enrollment is 320 students on a campus of three acres. The annual budget is $5M, no debt.
