Position description The Middle School Spanish teacher works as an effective member of both a cohort of Middle School Language teachers and a grade-level team to develop innovative curriculum. The full-time teaching responsibility consists of teaching four year-long classes or the equivalent. The Middle School Spanish program serves as both an entry point for new language learners and a developmental next step for Spanish language students from Westtown’s Lower School. The successful candidate will be fluent in Spanish, be familiar with educational technologies, and will have experience with and a passion for teaching in the target language. Teaching assignments will include 6th grade Intro to Spanish, Middle School Spanish 1, and Middle School Spanish 2, with the possibility of an upper level Spanish class as needed.
In addition, the Middle School Spanish teacher is a member of the core Middle School team. Core activities include advising, supervision of study halls and recesses, chaperoning field trips, and related activities that contribute to the Middle School community and the educational experience of our students. Core teachers engage in at least one additional co-curricular commitment such as a season of athletic coaching, leading the robotics team, or advising for the yearbook. The successful candidate will be a motivated educator with strong content knowledge and a keen interest in and enthusiasm for working with Middle School students.
