Qualifications:    

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field; Master's Degree preferred.
• 1-5 years of working in a K-12 educational environment supporting students with learning differences.
• Current (dated within a year) clearances (required)

Essential Duties:

• Measures and assesses student competency levels for the purpose of developing learning plans.  
• Executes a comprehensive program that meets student needs; develops activities and resources to implement and evaluate the program; collaborates with staff in making decisions about the programs.  
• Helps all students, individually or in groups, develops skills in the areas of personal/social growth, educational planning, and career development; implements follow-up actions as required.  Works in conjunction with our counseling team, school psychologist and learning specialists to optimize a student’s educational plan. 
• Consults and collaborates with parents, teachers, administrators, student support services and community resources regarding student planning and/or to address students with identified concerns and needs. 
• Maintains knowledge of the athletic, instructional and extracurricular programs of the school and utilizes this information in working with staff, students, parents and others to enable students to obtain maximum benefit from their school experience
• Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals; advises parents, students and administration on progress for the purpose of communicating expectations, student achievement, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing goals in the classroom and home environment.  
• Instructs students in academic subjects using a variety of techniques such as multi-sensory learning, and repetition to reinforce learning and to meet students' varying needs and interests; demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments to facilitate the learning process; counsels students for the purpose of improving performance, problem solving techniques and other issues.  
• Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards, acting as a role model.  Keeps up-to-date with innovative developments and trends in the field of education.  Makes the most of all opportunities to continue developing as a professional; acts to keep self professionally competent.  
• Actively participates in various meetings, such as department, administration, school meetings, etc.  
• Builds and maintains a professional rapport with a broad audience – students, parents, professionals, and all other staff.  
• Consults with the Admissions office on applicant’s educational challenges and needs.  
• Member of the Concussion Team and works directly with students during their recovery process.

• Strong communication skills and a willingness to be proactive in communications with faculty, staff, students, and especially parents
• Comfortable speaking to large groups at team level meetings and with large groups of parents.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to work independently and effectively with other team members.
• Good team player and very reliable in working without close supervision.
• Passionate about actively supporting the School’s mission.
