The Haverford School is seeking a lower school (elementary school) visual art teacher and art integration specialist. Preferred candidates will have at least two years of teaching experience. They are a happy, enthusiastic individual who has demonstrated a passion for art-making and for teaching that leverages the creative process to create powerful learning experiences within the art studio and across disciplines. In particular, we seek a candidate with an academic and/or professional background in the visual arts, or art education and/or teaching experience related to traditional and contemporary art-making. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience with and/or a vision for partnering with classroom teachers in the development of interdisciplinary, hands-on, project-based learning experiences. Finally, the candidate will have the capacity to contribute to the life of the School in co-curricular areas, especially coaching and advising students.

Please note this job is listed as a one-year job, but the hope is that the art integration aspect will allow it to become long-term.

• Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Teaching elementary-aged students in groups of up to 18 students per section. 
• Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
• Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
• Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and other coursework.
• Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students
• Partnering with and coaching classroom teachers in the development of project-based, learning experiences that enhance current lessons, and lead to even more powerful and durable learning.
• Assisting in the display of student artworks in school exhibition spaces.
• Managing an art studio and sourcing the necessary materials and tools.
• Planning and coordination of curriculum with the division head, department head, other art instructors, and grade-level classroom teachers.
• Participate in school evaluation and professional development programs
• Participate in some infrequent evening or weekend activities, including meetings, professional development, or other school activities. Other duties, as assigned.
